Calculate the starting total
Use the exact configuration at checkout. An Artista with standard hand control has different setup costs from one with an optional pedal and legs. Include delivery and tax where applicable.
- Wheel and required controls or stand.
- Suitable table or seat that you do not already own.
- Initial tools and compatible bats, after checking what comes with the wheel.
- Clay, storage containers and a place for wet work.
- Cleanup supplies and any initial instruction.
- First firing charges and travel, if you plan to have work fired elsewhere.
A worked example, using invented amounts
Suppose the wheel quote is $700, furniture $120, tools and bats $60, clay $40, cleanup supplies $35 and initial outside firing $45. That totals $1,000. These figures demonstrate the calculation; they are not current offers or a recommended spending level.

A home kiln requires its own installation and operating plan. Do not add the purchase price of a kiln to this worksheet and assume the firing problem is settled.
Where paying more may change the equipment
