At startup
With power off, inspect accessible cords, the plug, control cable and pan for visible damage. After a move, repeat the setup checks. During the normal startup procedure, stop for abnormal operation such as a new mechanical noise, unexpected motion or erratic speed response. Do not run a stress test to investigate.
While putting the wheel away
Follow the separate cleanup procedure and record anything that needs attention before the next session. In a shared studio, name the problem and the action taken. “Pan refitted according to manual; no rubbing on next startup” is more useful than “wheel noisy.” Mark the machine out of use if a fault remains unresolved.
A recurring reminder
For a lightly used home wheel, a monthly reminder can be convenient for reviewing the service log and checking stored accessories. Busy studios may need more frequent checks; use any interval specified by the manufacturer.
Do not add oil or adjust the drive as a generic monthly task. VL-LITE has automatic belt tensioning, while VL-WHISPER has no drive belt. The correct procedure follows the model, not the calendar.
Before storage or transport
Gather detachable parts into a labeled container and photograph their arrangement if that will help reassembly. Follow lifting instructions and keep the pedal cable from being trapped under the body.
Use storage conditions allowed by the manual. Ask the manufacturer about a damp room or temperature extremes; a cover does not establish that the location is suitable.
Service records to keep
- Model and serial identification.
- Receipt, registration and warranty conditions.
- Matching manual and dated fault notes.

When observation should become a service request
The Artista manual directs owners to stop and seek support for smoke, unusual noise or malfunction. Consult the manufacturer about electrical or internal mechanical faults. Routine maintenance is not a reason to open a working wheel.
