Mark the machine on the floor, then add the stool, your feet, the pedal and the movement needed to stand. The outline usually grows again when you allow room to remove the splash pan and carry away a ware board.
Use the published footprint as a starting rectangle
SHIMPO lists the VL-LITE at 22 × 28 × 21 inches. Confirm the width/depth/height order in its documentation and mark the footprint. The stool and standing clearance go outside that rectangle.
For a tabletop wheel, mark the table footprint and the positions of its legs and braces. Check beneath the top for knee and pedal clearance.
Measure yourself into the drawing
Place a chair where you expect to sit. With the wheel off or represented by cardboard, bring your hands to the working position. Mark where your feet naturally rest and where the pedal would sit without forcing a twist. Pull the chair back and stand normally; include that movement in the usable area.
Rehearse reaching water and setting down a tool without crossing the wheelhead. Walk the exit route carrying a board with both hands; mark any door swing or narrow turn that interferes.
Leave room to remove the pan
A splash pan may separate into halves, lift upward or require an accessory to come off first. Leave room for that exact motion. The Artista manual also distinguishes bat sizes when explaining pan removal, so a plan based only on the bare wheelhead can miss a clearance problem.
Keep the power switch, connection, model label and approved maintenance points accessible. Avoid an arrangement that requires moving heavy furniture for an ordinary check.
Measure the drying shelf
Measure a ware board holding your intended projects and the shelf receiving it. Small cups may fit a shallow shelf; broad bowls and plates need more depth. Include height for lifting the board without scraping rims against the shelf above.
Check the complete drawing
Finish the sketch with preparation and cleanup locations. An L-shaped corner may have plenty of floor area yet fail the board-carrying test at a doorway. Keep the measurements for the narrowest movements alongside the overall room dimensions.
